Jonathan D. Sarna is University Professor of American Jewish History at Brandeis University. He is the author of numerous books on American Jewish history, including American Judaism: A History and When General Grant Expelled the Jews: The Life and Times of Ulysses S. Grant. He is also the co-editor of The American Jewish Experience: A Historical Encyclopedia.
