The auditory system can be divided into three main sections: the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. The outer ear consists of the auricle (pinna) and the external auditory canal. The auricle collects sound waves and directs them into the external auditory canal, which leads to the tympanic membrane (eardrum).

The middle ear contains the three auditory ossicles: the malleus (hammer),incus (anvil),and stapes (stirrup). These bones amplify sound vibrations and transmit them to the inner ear. These electrical signals are then transmitted to the auditory nerve and sent to the brain, where they are interpreted as sound.
